Project Detail: Unlike the United States or Europe, there are no local stores where you can go and get milk or meat in Africa. This is especially true for those Africans who live in rural and mountainous areas. The children grow without the benefits of drinking milk or eating meat on a regular basis. Beginning in March, 2008, SFTP will distribute livestock to those especially in need in the village of Mbwewe, Tanzania. These animals would be purchased by a local farmer in Mbwewe and then distributed to the poorest families who cannot dream of purchasing a luxury such as livestock.
You can help with this cost by purchasing livestock
at the following prices:
| Cow |
$250 |
| Goat |
$45 |
| Sheep |
$35 |
| Chicken |
$10 |
| Rabbit |
$10 |
The livestock will provide not only milk or meat, but provide the necessary fertilizers needed to improve their agricultural production.
SFTP realizes the importance of giving back in communities. The families in Mbwewe that are chosen to receive the gift of livestock will then have the opportunity to give back to others in the village. When their livestock have offspring, these families can then give the baby animals to their neighbors, thus continuing this cycle of hope.
