Project Detail: In Africa, many families who live in rural or mountainous regions cannot afford to take the time to dig and build a proper latrine for their household. This can be a serious health issue that Stuff for the Poor (SFTP) would like to change in the village of Mbwewe, Tanzania. The Latrine Project will not only provide a cleaner and more hygienic approach to the family’s toilet, but the subsequent fertilizer will increase their farming production. SFTP plans to build these latrines for 100 families in the Mbwewe village. The projected cost for each latrine building is $500.
Please consider a tax-deductible monetary contribution of $10 or more
to help these families sustain a healthier future.
The Latrine Project will consist of building a proper latrine for those families who are not able to build one on their own. The latrine will be a separate building that will have two toilet rooms. One room will be used while the other stays unused. Once the first toilet has been filled, it will be capped and the family will start to use the second toilet. After a predetermined amount of time has gone by, the first toilet room will be emptied and the contents will then be used for fertilizer in their fields.
By making a contribution to this project, you are ensuring a healthier lifestyle to those in need in Tanzania. By ensuring a healthier lifestyle, you are also helping curb many potential illnesses that can affect these families.
