Stuff for the Poor : Community Projects

Malaria Project

Project Overview: The Malaria Project will consist of purchasing and distributing 10,000 mosquito nets to the Tanzanian village of Mbwewe.

Total projected cost: $100,000

Project Detail: Estimates show that some 3,000 children die from malaria each day in Africa--one child every 30 seconds.  The World Health Organization has made malaria reduction one of its chief priorities, as there has been a rise in the numbers of cases reported.  While scientists continue to search for a vaccine, one method of combating the disease is simple mosquito nets to protect sleeping adults and children while they are at their most vulnerable.

You can save lives for as little as $10
when you donate a mosquito net with this project

Tanzania is Africa’s largest bed-net producer, and these insecticide treated pieces of lightweight gauze can reduce infections by 50%, and cut child deaths by a third.
Due to lack of adequate nourishment and thus weak immune systems, poverty creates vulnerable children, and this coupled with the lack of money to purchase these simple mosquito nets exacerbates the problem.

Stuff for the Poor has a goal to distribute 10,000 mosquito nets to the village of Mbwewe in Tanzania.  At $10/net, each of us has the opportunity to save lives with this necessary and simple project.

Please be as generous as you can.  Click here for more information on how you can donate to this now.
