Project Detail: Tanzanian families relying on agriculture to sustain their livelihood are severely limited by what can be grown on their land. They usually rely on previous harvests to collect seeds for the next growing season. Because of this, these families usually only have one food product that is grown and harvested on their land, thus leading to the family’s malnutrition. With current agricultural technologies, certain seeds can provide more production than others. A major problem in Africa is that most families cannot afford to purchase these seeds.
Stuff for the Poor (SFTP) has designed a community project that can assist these families in the village of Mbwewe, Tanzania obtain a variety of new plants. SFTP plans on developing seed beds in this locality to grow legume plants and encourage the families to plant legumes in their fields.
Please consider a tax-deductible monetary contribution of $50 or more
to help these families sustain a better future.
The legumes will provide a more balanced diet for the families, allowing for better health for all, especially the children. Legumes also add nitrogen back into the soils, allowing for better production. SFTP plans to develop ten seed beds in the Mbwewe village of Tanzania and we need your help. Each seed bed will cost $10,000 for a total projected cost of $100,000.
