Project Detail: The objective of this project is to decrease illness in Mbwewe by 50%. In order to achieve this, SFTP will begin construction of a water well in Mbwewe in March of 2008. Clean water systems are very expensive and must be maintained if they are to last. SFTP plans on hiring water systems technicians to educate the population about the maintenance needs of the well. SFTP would like to have this well sustained for 20+ years. The education and the implementation of the water well system will cost approximately $300,000 US dollars. This will cover the entire village and help over $10,000 men, women and children who are the most vulnerable to disease and illness.
